The label of Fig Tuesday originated in North England, Scotland, and Ireland as a Folk nickname. It is  based on yesterday\u2019s gospel reading, Mark 11:27-33, where Jesus curses a tree that only has leaves and no Figs. This act became a symbol of spiritual bareness, judgement on empty devoutness, and a call to bear real fruit in one\u2019s life. Most official liturgies do not use it, but there are some areas that continue to eat figs or fig-based pastries on this day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Opening Prayer: Psalm 6<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    or discipline me in your wrath.
