The Most Holy Place

In the book of Exodus, we read God’s directive to Moses to set up the Tabernacle. Moses was told what would be with the Ark behind the curtain in the Most Holy Place, along with each designated section of the Tabernacle, from the Most Holy Place to the courtyard. Finally, God directed that Aaron and his sons be anointed with oil as they were the appointed priests.

When Jesus came to fulfill the law and become the final sacrifice, He also came as the Great High Priest. He, too, was anointed by Mary, who broke open her alabaster box, poured the oil on Him, and wiped it with her hair. I find this a beautiful comparison – Jesus as the fulfillment of what was first ordained by God.

We can so easily forget the price paid for access to the Most Holy Place, a direct audience with God. God does not listen to a select few, answering the elite saints. As we are invited into the Most Holy Place, God hears us when we pray—every one of us! As the Psalmist says in chapter 20, “May the Lord answer you. May the Lord protect you. May He send you help.” These are statements of blessing that God desires for us.

You are invited to go to God in the Most Holy Place. “In times of trouble, may the Lord answer your cry.” What is the cry of your heart?
