“Some boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm.”
Psalm 20:7-8

Some of the most beautiful conversations one can have is with someone who has lived a life that expresses and experiences God’s faithfulness. To listen to them and hear their confidence in God and their heart of gratitude, they cannot help but be an encouragement to others. I had the privilege of talking to four ladies in the span of a week, from the ages of 80 to 101. Each one of them expressed their gratitude for family, God, and others who loved and supported them in all circumstances—during their vulnerable experiences—and God was unilaterally praised.

Although they did not know it, they challenged me. Their eyes went far beyond their current situation and saw God working on their behalf. They recognized His constant love and care for them. It can be so easy to be wrapped up in what is happening around us that we lose sight of the reality of God at work.

You are invited to consider the presence of God in your life and your circumstances, and ask yourself the following questions: Do I express a heart of gratitude, boasting in the name of the Lord? Do I direct others to the presence, strength, and provision of God? Can I recognize God in all things, relinquish my fears or doubts, and trust that He will provide all that is needed?

Our peace comes from the strength of the Lord. Seek Him in all things, and in so doing we will be able to rise up and stand firm.
