The church has special words and phrases that help us in our journey toward Christlikeness. Words like hope, peace, joy, and love are those kinds of words, and they are the words of Advent as well. These words can turn our thoughts, minds and lives towards the God who has gifted us with Jesus in this Advent season.
Within our church we are blessed to have many faithful and experienced ministers from a wide variety of gifts and callings. These collected writings are just some of their work and are provided in the hope that together we will draw from these words a habit of living closer to the Word who has ‘dwelt among us’ in those words from the Gospel of John.
I invite you to prayerfully read the scripture lessons from each day. May you encounter God in the story He has provided for our enrichment. And as you focus on the reading each day, allow the Spirit to guide you through this Advent season with a new awareness of Christ’ nearness.
My prayer is that these writings will strengthen your advent journey. May these words spur you on in your love toward God and His Church. I hope we all find within these pages the gifts of God for the people of God.
